Nocturnal leg cramps

Anyone experienced the cramp in calf when you wake up at middle of night?

It happened to me about every few months after became adult but until last year, it is getting rare now. I don't have nocturnal leg cramp for almost one year now - it could be possibility from drinking a lot of liquid (5 water bottles - 85 oz total) or eat enough potassium.

It was painful and I was yelled very loud as attempt to comfort the muscle.

Could be Charlie horse... They're more common in adults, usually caused from a lack of Potassium. =P Just that simple usually. =)

My university require me to take one of foreign language course.

Man I wish they had Romanian as a forign language... Then I could pretend that I never heard of it and "take it" and pass with flying colors! =D Hehehe... :giggle: But NoooooooOOoOooOooooo, I had to take Spanish... -_-

Lack of Potassium? eat banana everyday can fix it.
 
Eh, banana's aren't the highest thing in potassium out there surprisingly, just like oranges aren't the highest in vitamin C, cantaloupes are higher in Vitamin C than an orange, and Spinach is almost double the amount a banana has, or white beans. =P I take a potassium supplement, because I used to have the same issue... I'd wake mid night feeling like I wanted to rip my leg off... lol! Potassium supplements are super cheap, you can usually get a bottle of 100 at Walmart for like 4 bucks. Cheaper, and better than eating a banana a day, which will only give you around 10% of the potassium you need a day, versus the supplement that will give you 100%. =P plus, eventually you'll tire of stuffing yourself with bananas... I personally just think they're vile... I hate bananas... >.<

One banana is enough for me to prevent the nocturnal leg cramp and don't have for one year now.

I can't eat spinach, that's sad.

I have learn a trick from doctor long time ago and it works almost every time! I hate these cramps. Yes, I have screamed. I don't know if it will work for everybody. When cramp start to kick, keep leg straight as much as possible, then bend your feet toward to your face (As if toes are closer to your head). This suppress the cramps. ONLY works if the action is taken fast enough. If wait too long, then days of pain. Its much better if somebody helps push your feet toward to you not to that person. My wife was scared, I told her go ahead just do it. Do not attempt move your foot far away from your head, otherwise cramps will worsen and your scream will be much louder.

I even keep fruit to a minimum, don't they know there's massive amounts of insulin spiking fructose? I take potassium supps too in the form of potassium iodide. Thyroid needs minute amounts of it and consuming sea based veggies or fish everyday is not reasonable. Amazing how the wrong foods can accelerate bad health conditions! :shock:

I eat a lot of fruit... D= I love fruit! I honestly am not sure what I'd snack on if I didn't have fruits! D=
