This is another reason why I want to move to the UK someday. Far far less violence. London has less violence than Little Rock does, and Little Rock is less than half the size of London.

nothing's ever off-topic in MY thread Interesting comment but would you want to sacrifice your rights and freedom to government for security? Pay high tax? Live in a very small space, car, elevator, etc.? You should move to NJ! I know.... it's expensive to live in here but at least you can still have a same amount of safety as UK and its DVR is pretty damn good.

If you look at the London laws vs. the US laws, they are nearly the same. The main difference is that you are not allowed to own handguns and you must carry a special permit to own a shotgun or rifle. (I do know of a few UK citizens that do own shotguns and go birdhunting regularly). I have no need for a handgun. I am sure that all guns are banned in London for security reasons, so I have no problem with it.

Yes the cost of living is high in London as well as taxes, but it is going to be like anywhere like NYC, LA, Paris, or Hong Kong.

Could I not go when retired to stay part of the year for fun and still pay US tax if I was not a citizen?

nice. take me with you I surely would love to cruise around Europe on motorcycle. It is more bike-friendly there than in USA.
