I have recently opened a free No-ip.com. This is excellent for Video Phone, Netmeeting, PcAnywhere, etc. Here is how it works.

1) You open a free account. You pick a subdomain to attatch to a list of domains. For example, myname.no-ip.net or myname.servebeer.com.

2) Download their client. They have it for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Install and setup their client. This software will update the DNS servers every 10 mins if your Dynamic IP changes.

3) When you want to netcam or VP with someone, no need to figure out what your IP address is. Just give them your domain (myname.no-ip.net or whatever) and they will automatically be connected with you. I use it for my PcAnywhere all the time.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

i thought it only works with ip address only?

Actually domain name has its own IP address behind. Domain name is intended for anyone easy to remember by. When you type domain name like www.mydomain.com then your computer calls DNS for the ip address for www.mydomain.com then once DNS release that ip address, then the connections start process and you will arrive to where you want to go. DNS stands for Domain Naming Service. This is nothing new.

so i give them my domain name then they can call me by VP-100 videophone?

Once you register domain name and you set up on your PC to communicate with your DNS. Each time your ISP assigned you new IP address then your pc let your DNS server know your new IP address. but the domain name you have registered with DNS server remains the same. So yes, you just give away your domain name and not worry about change with IP address at all!

Prostock, I thought it was a FREE sign up account, but
then unfortunately when I just read their following terms
just before I was about to click on the Agreement...
I just found out that they will
charge you fees so therefore I have decided NOT to
click anything on it anyway... only
because they will charge you fees anyway.
Look at number 12 far below.

I'm copying their terms of agreement half here and
another half to separate due to large space here:

I have several accounts with no-ip.com and dyndns.org. still free. give it a try and dont give out your CC number. Find out what no-ip.com have to offer. Wont hurt to try.

Your right, the subdomain is really free as long as you don't mind using their master domain name. The #12 agreement means that IF you select something that has fee in it, you are responsible for the charges. But, if there is no fee for specific service, there is no fee. I find this domain name service is to be COOL idea! The advantage is that you don't have to worry about giving wrong IP address nor wrong phone number. Image, you have a Sorenson VP with this X phone number and you gave to a hearing person. This hearing person got fed up with waiting for next available Sorenson VRS, and found one of other 7 VRS provider... Do you think this phone number you gave to him WILL work with other VRS provider? Think about it! It will NOT work! It only work with Sorenson system! Same goes with if you have Dlink and its phone number, it WON'T work with Sorenson VRS at all!!! I have tested. So, the purpose of this domain name registration is to avoid resubmitting people of your new IP address or two confusing phone numbers for two seperate VRS. I have thought of Subdomain, but NAH! I got my own master domain name, and subdomain them with my gf's VP, and my VP... It worked awesome! Now, I give to anyone my domain name, and not worry about anything! Even if I have to replace VP!

FYI Anything that ends with .COM, .US. .NET is cheap to register. I registered with .TV, it is most expensive, because its broadband, videostream. I think its worth it already, could run 2 VP at same time, no problem at all!
