Do you know of anyone who has had a caller call and then hang up after you say, "hello?" Especially, at the same time everyday? Also, if the person has an unknown phone number?

Is it possible that it could be a person you know who is nosy about you?

What are the main reasons people call and hang up especially if it is at a certain time besides prank calling and harrassing?

Generally telemarketers are known to call and not talk. Actually, its the telemarketing system... I am not sure whether it an tactic that is part of the axis of evil.

Yes, I had one telemarketer's call every day for a month, hubby would answer the phone but not one word or sound at the other end. As we have an Caller ID (identity) system where the telemarketer's phone number shows up and we memorize the number, so whenever that call comes through, we don't answer it. Thank goodness, that has stopped now.

The telemarketers have a stupid policy where they don't have to talk, only to hope that the customers they ring answer their phones which adds to the telemarketers' sales quota system.

I don't have voice on my phone, but now I am starting to get texts that are marketing pitches and others that I think are scammers. I have only had this since changing to AT&T. It kind of bothers me.

It's rude that people invade on other's privacy when they never gave permission in the first place, you know?

I had a "LifeCall" for checking I am alive, but no one talk or relaying to my TTY. The LifeCall system for disabled and senior, the LifeCall thinks it's "picked up" on my TTY that stated "OK" marked on the lifecall system, as my Bldg Landlord removed the lifecall system they cannot afford to use LifeCall system to check all disabled and senior resident's phone nbr..

The caller id show "Unknown number" it's a lifecall system.

I got one of these the other day. It is very irritating! I have T-mobile though... I hope it does not become a regular thing. Does the 'do not call' list apply to texting I wonder. I hope so, I'm going to put my number on there again, not sure if I did so with the new one.

I don't know if it applies. I had TMobile before AT&T gave me a great deal on a Blackberry. I had TMobile for years and never got one of those types of text.

So maybe it really isn't to do with which phone company and they are getting the number somewhere else.
