My friend just bought nice chopper to replace 1974 Harley Sportster (It had problem with engine and he gave up fixing it). It is 1980's Customized Harley Chopper. He have S&S Carb and 1,300cc engine. He haven't test ran it when he bought it because the owner took out the electronic distributor and coil. Engine cranks fine with kick start (felt strong compression). It needs some repairs and electronic distrubutor plus Ignition coil to get it up and running. It needs oil reservior repair and braced in a way it'll won't vibrates and cracks the reservior support. It have no electric starter, just kick start. He doesn't know exactly what kind of engine is that cuz Owner bought and assembled engine without knowing what exactly it was and what year is it. The Tranny is 6 speed with 3 inches wide belt. It only have one rear brake, no front brake. Gas tank is uprighted and doesn't have gas guage so he have to figure out "average" miles from full to empty on his speedometer.

Once it's running, He would let me ride on it for fun of it and even ride to my work

He was soooo excited about it. I guarantee that engine gonna be really mean and LOUD! :eek2: . I told him to be careful riding around in some city that prohibited loud exhaust. I bet If he ride over to my house, It'll shake, rattle, roll my house for sure.:rockon:

I took pix of his Custom Chopper. See Below!!

As you wonder why he is replacing 74' Harley Sportster for Chopper, He admit that he learned from Auto Dealer who was at the bar and knew much about Harley. The guy said 74' harley Sportster have bad reputation as "Fix Fix Fix Fix" motorcycle, he asked my friend if he's a mechanic. He said No! I'm not!! The guy said that it is a high maintenance motorcycle tho. here's why...
