As part of Deaf Awareness Week 2007 (7-13 May) experience being ‘Deaf For A Day’ under the guidance of an experienced The Hearing Company hearing aid audiologist and learn first hand what it’s like to live with a severe hearing loss – an affliction that affects over 9 million people in the UK.

DEAF AWARENESS WEEK (W/C 7 MAY)
FACT: Hearing is one of our most vital but neglected senses.
FACT: More than 9 million people in the UK suffer from some degree of hearing loss but only around 2 million seek professional advice
FACT: It's an issue that is affecting younger people due to today's noisier environment
The Hearing Company, through its network of hearing aid audiologists, is encouraging people to Listen Up, Listen In and take care of their hearing in the same manner as their eyesight by having regular FREE checks.
As part of Deaf Awareness Week why not contact us to arrange:
* Deaf For A Day - an experienced hearing aid audiologist gives a journalist a hearing check and also the opportunity to see the inner workings of his / her ears through a video otoscope. The journalist's ears will then be blocked using a special putty through a painless, totally reversible procedure and taken out and about to conduct day to day tasks such as crossing the road, ordering a drink in a crowded bar etc for a unique experience of what it is like to be severely deaf (NB this need only take a couple of hours).
* Day in the Life of an Ear - our ears get a daily battering from noise, from blow drying our hair to sitting in traffic jams with the car stereo blasting out. We can help you measure the noise levels as you go about your daily business. Do they go over the 85 decibel safety level?
