I am hoping to host another larger rally in the fall, with students from all of the Toronto Universities and Colleges for Deaf/deaf/hoh post-secondary education in general! I want to see some kind of network established for us since we really have little support! Unless you go to York...stupid York students with their good Deaf access, interpreter coordinator, and Deaf awareness on campus I am a tad bitter perhaps!
Wow, You did it, girl!!!! Way to go. I did not know that you can protest in the rally to speak your mind on getting interpreters for Ontario Universities. It would be nice if we can have a Deaf University like Gallaudet University. I guess there will be a recession to have one in a Deaf university. Only you can have a Deaf program in college to have access for your special needs in the hearing classrooms, if it is available. It is a shame when the hearing Dean or the head of the University refuse or don't want to hire interpreters for Deaf students. I have been trying to do that when I was in high school and nobody stand up for me and I could have walked out of the high school for my protest for accessing for sign language and notetakers, but I did not think that it would work or not. But that was many years ago. <sigh> You are lucky and I do hope you got your reward for getting your interpreters in the classrooms.
