Hi! My name is Damien from Oregon, and I was diagnosed with SSHL 4 months ago. I'd love to understand more about this community, as my hearing problems have made me feel pretty isolated lately. I feel bad about continuously asking people to repeat themselves, and have nearly walked into danger a couple times because I can't hear cars on the road. I felt like it's time I finally try to be social with maybe likeminded hoh individuals. I am trying to improve my communication by being proactive and seeking hearing aids, as well as learning sign language.
If anyone has any advice for someone navigating a completely new path, I'm open! I'm looking forward to making meaningful connections.
