Yes, and where she put it, was sure to be found.Churches are safe havens for mothers who want to leave their babies. Perhaps the mother made sure someone would be there to find the baby. She may have been close by just in case.
Would you rather she put the baby in a dumpster? That has happened, you know.
I'm glad she chose to have the baby, not an abortion, and that she chose to put the baby where she felt it would be safe.
If we didn't have safe havens for dropping off unwanted babies, much more would be dying in dumpsters, bushes by the side of the road, etc.

Hospitals welcome baby drop offs, just for that very reason.
The woman was desperate imagine giving birth umbilical cord attached I more concerned for her welfare. She left baby in best place and I for one be horrified if she was arrested. My heat go out for poor mother.
The mother could come from strict religious Muslim Christian and her life could been in jeperdy by family, she could been 12yr old child a homeless woman,or very sick girl with that psychosis.
I know here there be great concern for mother and if possible help would been given to keep mother and child together....this baby may been result of rape incest and horrors I not want think about.
Civerlized world do not hang draw and quarter a woman/child for this.....got to disagree with you wdys on this one
In deciding not to bring charges, Brown said the mother followed the spirit of the Safe Haven law.
"It appears that the mother, in this case, felt her newborn child would be found safely in the church and chose to place the baby in the manger because it was the warmest place in the church, and further she returned the following morning to make certain that the baby had been found," Brown said.

Obviously someone has Botts and I on ignore.

Same happened to me before.

I hope the mother is found and arrested for leaving her new born baby to dies ! What if no one heard the poor baby crying.
And I got to disagree with you on this one ! What if something had
happen and the custodian wasn't able to return to the church the baby could had been left alone a lot longer. If the mother need help she will be able to get , the baby is completely helpless which is why he was to be given to a person not just left behind to dies . Yes we don't know how old the mother is or how she became pregnant but two wrongs don't made a right! This is why the police is looking for the mother.
"New York has a so-called safe haven law that says a newborn can be dropped off anonymously at a church, hospital, police or fire station without fear of prosecution. But the law, known as the Abandoned Infant Protection Act, requires that the child be left with someone or for authorities to be called immediately. Police said that didn't happen in this case, which has led investigators to begin searching for the person who dropped the child at the church."
.
Feelings rapidly evolving....If people want to talk about this you could PM one another , this is about a baby that been given up by his mother. This had to been a very difficult thing for the mother to do and around the holidays too.![]()
