:welcome: to AllDeaf Forum. Oh, boy. You do have a rough life being home schooled all of your life. You need to be with other d/Deaf children or teenagers like yourself. You miss the d/Deaf social events while growing up. Being in the Deaf community really make you feel a load of heavy chest off your shoulder when you communicate with d/Deaf and Hard Of Hearing people. This Forum is a discussion board, not a chat room. But if you want to discuss about something that you want to discuss. Then this is the place where you can discuss any topic.

You will learn a lot about us on this Forum. Just relax and enjoy reading and posting here. See you around here on Forum.

Welcome! It's sad that you didn't get a lot of other exposure to other dhh kids while growing up......17 seems young to be done with HS....I knew someone who finished at 18......you know, if you didn't get a GED, you could attend a deaf school.....Some of them have postsecondary programs for students who still require a little extra training and aren't quite ready for college/the world of work....we can attend school til 21...It might help you socially....social stuff is really important with getting employment.....

I graduated from mainstream high school at the age of 20 years old back in the middle 1960. Almost most of my deaf classmates graduated at my age except one graduated at 21 years old. True what deafdyke said that most hearing kids finished to graduated at 18 years old. It is the rule of the school policy if you could not complete the schooling. The only way to complete high school is go for GED. Usually they end up at night school for GED.

As for home schooling, I guess it does not matter what age you would be able to complete your high school courses before you decide if you want to go into college or job training. It is the social that you need to get along with people that you need to worry about.

i have been home schooled my whole life and have never had many friends

I feel sorry for you. :( Damn your parents for not sending you to school.

The OP has not posted in 6 days days , I wonder if her mom change her mind about using her computer for whatever her want.

Or maybe it was a troll....I could be wrong but she just sounded a little over the top. Homeschooled and really sheltered? Most people who homeschool tend to be very active families.....they don't just do lessons at home, and very rarely venture out. Even the Christian homeschooler families that some might consider sheltered, tend to be active in their own communities (ie going to Christian camps, and homeschooling conferences and other enrichment stuff)

You judge everybody.

Where's your links with proof about what type of families homeschooled kids come from? The OP actually sounded just like most homeschooled kids I've met.

I'm Faith and I'm deaf too. I know how you feel, except I started off school as a home schooler. I'd love to be your friend
