Protesters who attended Tea Party rallies are making their way to Washington D.C. Their arrival is delayed by the D.C. public transit.
This would make American Sign Language the official language of the United States. English was the de facto language of the United States. The new bill make make sign language the de jure language of Americans.
President Barack Obama, suggests in TV interviews to be broadcast on Monday, that America went two centuries without an official language.
"Mandating sign language as the official language of the American people is part of the health re-form so that Medicare would not have to continue spending upward of $100,000 per cochlear implant," he said.
American Sign Language is the language used by the deaf and many people with learning disability such as autism since they are unable to communicate verbally. It is estimated that there are two million users of sign language in the United States.
"All government services will be provided in American Sign Language to guarantee equal access for all citizens," said Obama.
Discovered by Williams Skoke, sign language utilise the hands for speaking. It is a universal language.
Obama said "it will restart the economy. People will be spending money to take sign language courses and the economy will go up again. New jobs will be created for teachers."
It is estimated that 70% of deaf people are unemployed, and many other non-English speakers are unable to find job. Many of them are collecting SSI and SSDI.
"With no communications barrier, everyone will be able to find a job in the shaky economy," added Obama.
The Obama Administration are hoping with the official language status, the number of people on social security will go down.
