Now there is a new audiotape of Osama bin Laden with threats of more attacks. :eek2: He offered a truce, but Bush rejected it.

Osama bin Laden said:
"The delay in similar operations happening in America has not been because of failure to break through your security measures," he said. "The operations are under preparation and you will see them in your homes the minute they are through (with preparations), with God's permission."

Jeremy Bennie said:
Jeremy Bennie, a terrorism analyst for Jane's Defense Weekly, said bin Laden appeared to be "playing the peacemaker, the more statesmanlike character" with his offer of a truce.

"They want to promote the image that they can launch attacks if and when it suits them," he said. "They want us to believe they are in control," he said.

If the tape is more recent than that air attack on al-Qaida, this could mean that bin Laden is still alive. :Ohno:

We have no trouble finding Bush but can't find Bin Laden?

Hmm...

Maybe, Bush is not trying hard enough so that the hatred with us Americans will keep going. It's like a killer that's killed his victims. With the killer still on the loose, the families of the victims will still feel hate towards the killer. Once the killer is caught and sentenced to prison or death, the family will eventually forget the hate and the killer's name will become a memory of a man they all hated. With Bin Laden, everyone who was related to the WTC in some way will have a lot of hatred towards him. If they caught Bin Laden right now, then everyone would focus more on the memory of the people who died in the WTC than Bin Laden himself. Makes you wonder about the war in Iraq. The Gulf War was talked for years while the previous President Bush kept the troops there. After the war "ended", people didn't think about Iraq or the Gulf War much any more. Now that the current President Bush has troops in Iraq... years after catching Saddam, people still have a lot of hate towards Iraq. Maybe, Bush feels that by having hatred... he can use "God" as an excuse.

I don't think President Bush is using God as an excuse. Osama Bin Laden uses God ( allah ) as an excuse to murder. Osama Bin Laden is very hard to find and track because he does not use cell phones or anything that can be traced back to him. Osama Bin Laden is nothing but a rich punk with a private army funding terrorism. Pure and simple. We tried to kill the #2 man Al - Zahawari with a missile. I studied the military stragetry that President Bush ordered and I thought they forgot to have U.S. Troops in position before the missile strike. I thought they would have better chances if they surrounded the compound from afar and let the missiles shower then if anybody runs out then the U.S. soldiers can machine gun the enemy to death and keep a tight circular perimeter around the terrorist compound and there are no avenues for escape.

GAWD!,

Still obession w/him...

Means he still want stay input "WAR" and ain't give up... not even think twice costly lot of money expense us troops. All he want think of war not money!

Bush is nothing but a rich punk using his position as president to take his sweet time to find Bin Laden while going to war with Iraq.

This sounds like you're saying that Bush can't do his job to plan a good strategy.

Heath, are you familiar with Carl von Clausewitz's famous classic, On War?

On War was written long, long ago and Clausewitz identifies three elements of the engagement: infantry, cavalry and artillery. If we stretch him to modern times, we find that we are applying "artillery" when we rain missles on the enemy. Missles, however, are far more effective than the artillery of Clausewitz's time and we do not necessarily need to send soldiers in to clean up or act for bomb damage assessments (we have satellite and airborne technology for that).

The reason why we don't put soldiers on the ground in situations like the ones you describe is because we don't have a need to risk our troops. Deployment of small numbers of troops in an area remote from support can prove to be a risky move.

I hope everyone here realizes that Bin Laden was a problem well before Bush. The only thing that we became concerned about was with 9/11. There had been terrorist attacks well before the Bush administration, and many of them were US targets...just not on our soil.

Osama was involved in the bombings of US embassies in Tanzania and Kenya a few years before Bush was elected. I also find it surprising that people don't remember that the Taliban in Afghanistan was an issue long before Bush too.

Yeah...but it will always be George Bush's fault no matter what anyone says. I've seen people say that George Bush was responsible for the tsunami, hurricane katrina..and recently he was to blame for the miners deaths in West Virginia. People seem to think that he is God and created the world and then went and screwed it....sorry but it was a screwed up place long before Bush took office.

Update....

On news, Bin Laden said, "Drop dead".

He hates us Americans.

Right, but sadly Bush gets all the blame. The problem started when LBJ was president, nobody blames LBJ!

Well, people have fickle memory.
I'm glad the Taliban's overthrown but there's some report of some people attempting an revival of Taliban. Gee, I hope not.

Bin Laden'll pick anywhere to kill off people in the name of Allah. He's a canny one, and isn't likely to be caught anytime soon unless some one betrayed him.

As for the truce he was offering. I wonder what's his true motive for this offer?

*puzzled look* I would say the problem happened way before LBJ got to presidency.

Yeah.....but in my opinion we know where Osama is. He's in the mountians. we have the technology and Osama dont even know that we know where he is. It's best to leave him here like the corporation concept cant get the leader. Osama is the leader. Not good idea. I dont know if the terrorists will come and disrupt the innocent people or not of we captured Osama. Its better to capture his top aides like the playing cards with wanted terrorists to capture!

I bet osama bin laden is living in jersey driving a cab. :giggle:
