Need some questions Business pagers

Hey everyone ADers!

I do not know much abt things myself since I am deaf lol but most of u may know and may have own the business...

Q: Do u have umm sort of like a pager that need to be called from ur boss, manager to tell u to come to his/her office or something like that?

Ok for example, for me when I am working at Borders and I need to ask my manger and I had to go out to find him/her all over that store till found that person... hard on me, u know. Cuz my co-workers always call someone to come...etc easy for them and not me! So what I like to know how to find something like pager for the business like u deaf ppl... like if I need her/him to come, just page them thru like sk2 or something like that... they now have new "phone" on ur ears everwhere u go just like u see at any stores have.... dealers I mean... I told them that I am going to find out thru this forums to find out if anyone of u know abt this things? For me I did not know how or where to find that so my boss can get one for me so that she or he can call me up and I can feel that vibs... know i mean? Oh boy, I hope u guys can understand what I am freaking talking abt! :lol:

Pls help me out!! Find that things and how that works....or what!

If your boss have cell phone, you can text or call via aim relay?

Yea LT right. That the only way I can think is to text thru email or aim thru cellphone or if they have the kind of device that are capiblities with text or aim.
 
I am a little confused. You want to find your manager somewhere in the store. Is that right?

My opinion is that most bosses are not willing to buy a SK2 or expensive text messager.

I am not quite sure if the Radio Shack has a small light stroble with wireless device (less bright). It might help you to see the flashing on the ceiling at the corner. When you see the flashing is on, you go and meet your manager in the same area what your boss prefer you to meet.

Here is example: two or three door bell devices on the walls - to transmit it to one or two silent strobe light(s).

Yes, that what I mean, I hate to walk trying to find the managers, waste my time and my times hrs u know... I need it right away so I can finish up faster then go on next project...etc. That is the way I want and my mangers know how I felt and she is very understable and have very supportive that I ever known! She said for me to find out abt it and let her know so that was why I need to find that kind things.....I do not know if any of deaf ppl have that one but I do not mean for cell phone which will cost more on text no way!! Best for business only that will not charge when called... just within Borders only...

As for being fired or quit job...she can keep that things for future next deaf person... that was why I want to do that for her as well as for me!

Oh and as for those links u gave out, sound good idea but I am not sure that kind I want but I mean something like a pager carry with me everywhere I go cuz I moved around alot .... know i mean?

Well, that is what I found that and I hope that is the one that I want to know more abt if anyone has one like that for their business?

Pls let me know and I am going to print that out to show my manger tomorrow....
 
The system you linked to doesn't look cheap. I mean, in order for it to work, you need:

1) Software on a PC (which means you'll need to access a PC in order for you to page your boss or your boss to page you). This is specialized software, so it won't be cheap.
2) Transmitter station (the UHF RS232). This is a specialized transmitter, so it won't be cheap.
3) Pager(s). I would suggest 2 to 4 pagers, so that there are backups and so that more than one "boss" would have a pager and that you have one as well. Don't know the cost of those, those are probably the cheapest part of the system.

Now, you've got the parts, you'll need someone to order them from the UK and then set them up in Borders.



It'd be MUCH simpler to have a system where you text or email each other's cell phones. Your boss should have a cell phone or a Qwerty phone for this purpose, and since it's a business expense for accessibility, Borders should easily approve that.

Hey AW … I miss you!!! :hug: As I read the posts above, it seems very confusing what you meant. I have some questions to ask you and perhaps you can help us, the Aders better understanding. This way we might have better suggestion.

Well ... from what I understanding you don't work on one spot all the time so I think pagers (I have never had pagers nor Sidekicks but read about those alot) would be best choice. In meantime, try to call Deaf Service or Vocational Rehabititation and or Interpreter Dept and ask where you can get information for your help then go from there. Once you find someone who can help, collect his/her name and phone number then give it to your manager. Hopefully your manager will call them and find out what's the best solution to make easier for you and your manager. What do you think? Let me know how's thing go. Good Luck!

In meantime, try to call Deaf Service or Vocational Rehabititation and or Interpreter Dept and ask where you can get information for your help then go from there. Yes that right I mostly move around alot but sometimes on same spot for while...etc.. sometimes when they want to ask me something they had to come to me each times the customers asked abt magazines which I know more than my co-workers and sometimes hard for them to leave their post cuz of too many ppl there so though that thing I gave out that link above that I found is the one I want to have them to call me up err I mean page me so then I can come there..... not only manager but anyone too! I have print them out the other day and left in my manager mail box... but I will make sure to tell her abt what u just said ... Deaf Service or Vocational Rehabititation and or Interpreter Dept and see what can be done... u just remind me abt that VR!! I know who might have one but he is now retired due his health plms so I am going to email him now!! Thanks so much!! That may help, I hope!! :ty:

get cell phone with pre-paid, you can send text-msg, it's much cheap when you're not use that often. Learn and type on keypad instead QWERTY.
 
If you just need to be paged, then there is a simple fairly low cost solution.

Amazon.com: Cobra GMRS Two-Way Radio (PR 950DX): Electronics

get a set of 2-way radios that have vibration alerts on them. If some one needs you they just need to make your radio vibrate. (and then you can go to the service desk or whatever)

If you need a 2-way communication, then you should get a PDA with a keyboard and WiFi. It's a bookstore, so they probably have wireless access points in the store anyway. A lot of people have said cell phones, but SMS is too slow and unreliable in this situation, you just need to be paged within a store, not on the other side of the country.
 
If SMS is slow there's always Blackberry PIN messageing. Of course, both you and whoever is paging needs a BB.
 
famerjoe, you make me think that there should have two-way radio to send message each other for short range without charge anything.

It would be perfect for work, theme park, hiking and more. that would be great, eh?

Hard to explain but right now they are not using them which they are very new and have not yet to use them very much but umm it is like phone but hand free and walk around but that is only within that Borders and it has smaller similar like cell phone sizes.... but but to call outside..I dunno tho!! I only know abt pager like DR do, u know.

Cuz it is only inside of the Borders where I am working at and I hate to walk all over the place trying to find someone I need to talk for some help! :lol: So that was why I need a pager so I call someone to COME! I do not know abt that one if order but I just need to know abt Deaf ppl have when work or own them for thier own business, know I mean but I noticed that no one has one whose own the business!!!
