National Theatre of Deaf Premieres "Journeys of Identity" - Behind the Curtain | Frank Rizzo
The National Theatre of the Deaf premieres its new work, "Journeys of Identity" written and directed by Garrett Zuercher, starting Wednesday at the Old State House in Hartford with performances continuing through Sunday. The one-hour play, set in 1817, is based on Thomas Gallaudet, founder of the nation's first school for the deaf; Laurent Clerc, its first teacher; and Alice Cogswell, its first student. Performances are Wednesday at noon, Thursday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 1;30 p.m., and Sunday at 1 and 4 p.m. Tickets are $15; $8 students and seniors. Information: 860-987-5900 and Connecticut's Old State House.
