Dennis Fogelson, an independent education consultant in Minnesota and a native of Leeds, N.D., is the new superintendent for the North Dakota School for the Deaf in Devils Lake, according to an announcement Monday.

Fogelson's prior experience includes many years in all levels of school administration, from principal to superintendent, North Dakota Superintendent Wayne Sanstead said in a news release.

Fogelson worked nine years for the Minnesota Department of Education as a regional consultant and facilitator. He started and served as the first executive director of Alpha Opportunities, an adult developmental disabilities facility in Jamestown.

He has a master's degree in education from North Dakota State University and bachelor of science degree from Mayville (N.D.) State University.

The North Dakota School for the Deaf provides a comprehensive academic program and outreach support services for children through adults who are deaf or hearing impaired.

Fogelson will be introduced an open house for community members and parents from 10 a.m. to noon March 29, in conjunction with Parents Day in the school.
