The local deaf community will continue to explore ties between music and sign language with the band Redemption at Curley's Coffee House in Johnson City from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Redemption features music duos Jo and Mike Whitney -- perhaps best known as leaders of the Songwriting Circle at the Endicott Performing Arts Center -- and Roger and Paula Bacorn.

The Whitneys perform with two other bands, Higher Ground and Oakley's Ghost, each with a distinctive repertoire. Mike plays multiple instruments in many genres, while Jo is known for her powerful voice and stage presence.

Roger Bacorn is a guitarist and player of multiple instruments, and Paula Bacorn, musical director for many shows at EPAC, is an accomplished vocalist and performer.

Dee Arnold, Aimee Hudock, Jo Whitney and Judy Rose will provide American Sign Language interpretation.

Curley's Coffee House is located at 252 Main St., Johnson City. Admission to the show is free.
