I'm actually disappointed with the fact that they are coming out with more and more features on newer mobile devices. I wish they would leave the old features alone in older pagers and keep those since they are cheaper. I don't care much for AIM. I don't care much for the internet. I don't care much for games. All I want is a simple e-mail service like Agotel and Wyndtell used to have. Nowadays, they don't do those any more... just more and more advanced annoying mobile devices.
I feel the same way. I am not advocating "the good old days", whatever THAT might mean...It just seems that technology is going so fast that we can hardly sit still and see what we HAVE, for petesake. First of all, I am concerned about transporation safety...in the "good old days" I would go nuts when people would fiddle with the car radio, taking their eyes off the road to find a station to their liking...And those were hearing people, I have always felt safe with fellow deaf drivers...
But no more.
What happened??
I fear we are becoming kinda overspecialized, like swamp birds.
You know the story, don't you? This swamp has birds that need bigger and longer beaks in order to reach the food, and the higher the water becomes, over generations, the bigger and heavier their beaks become. Then one day a swamp fire happens, and the damn birds get wiped out because their beaks are so heavy they cannot fly.
That is a result of overspecialization.
Deaf drivers have always had a good record because of the lack of distractions, and now we are willingly adding them?? What for??
Phooey, call me old fashioned, but I still believe in keeping the eye on the road.
