First thing, it's not losing my hearing that constricts me... it's the pain associated with it. Because you can still laugh while you're deaf, but when you're in pain it's a little difficult. You can still think when you're deaf but when you're in pain it's hard to make the thoughts make sense...
Put me back together again the way
I used to be,
My ears were whole and it wasn't
painful to hear
My children could run, play and scream-
I’ll laugh every minute!
I want my mind to comprehend, Not
take the time it does
Not going over and over
again the words
I just wrote down
Wow, what a pity party
one can have alone!
If I hadn’t started out
with a mom like mine
that put me steps ahead,
I’d be further behind,
then what would I do
with these mixed up
words of feelings and thoughts?
So get off the 'poor me' ride
and be thankful for words to write down
Inside I'm still beautiful me,
I just have to rearrange
until the world can see it too!
