The Swazi Observer
SWAZILAND Post and Telecommunication (SPTC) MD E. Nathi Dlamini yesterday handed over a cheque of E1 000 to Miss Deaf Swaziland Simphiwe Magagula for services she rendered during the soccer spectacular held two months ago.
The company used Magagula during the promotion of the event as she also paraded the cup during the event.
The presentation was held at the DPM’s offices in Mbabane.
Also present during the presentation was Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku who thanked the company for the kind gesture. In his address, the MD said they were proud as a company to be also involved in social responsibility.
“It’s not about the money but the gesture and hope that other companies will follow suit,” he said.
Dlamini said as a company it was their mandate to play a crucial role in changing the lives of the challenged in the country.
“By so doing, we see ourselves playing a major role in bringing the physically challenged to the main stream economic society,” he said.
He added that they enjoyed working with Miss Miss Deaf Swaziland during the soccer spectacular.
DPM Thema Masuku thanked the company for the kind gesture and urged other companies to do the same.
“SPTC is leading by example and I thank them for giving Magagula a chance to work with them. It was so encouraging and touching to see Magagula parading the trophy with a big smile,” he said.
Masuku said Magagula was the country’s ambassador having made it at the international event where she was crowned Miss Deaf World first princess.
“She has achieved and must be used by the country’s companies when doing their promotions.”
He added that his office had a number of things in the pipeline to help and assist Magagula.
In her address, Magagula thanked SPTC for the cheque.
“I was not expecting anything from the company and I am so grateful to them for the cheque. I really enjoyed working with the company and hope to work with them again in future,” she said.
She also thanked the DPM for all he has done for her.
“I would like to thank the DPM for making things possible for me. I am what I am today because of DPM as he also facilitated my trip to Miss Deaf World,” he said.
Magagula added that she was also available to work with other companies.
“I am available and would really love to work with a number of companies in the country. My mission is to work with OVCs and the elderly in the country,” Magagula said.
