Have you experience any misdiagnosis with medical problem?

In year ago, I shared the result about possibility to have bipolar but turned into misdiagnosed after 3 months because none of medicines work for me and my therapist asked some confused questions - she isn't ASL. I decided to close the case after got in endless argument and she was one of most cruelest therapist that I had met. I decided to side with old diagnosis that evaluated by therapist at Gally and most of my depression came from IBS, so bipolar and other mental conditions are negative.

Today, I'm free from useless psychiatric medicines for one year, however my depression usually appear during IBS flare up.

I have a new therapist - deaf guy in full ASL - only see once a month. :cool2:
 
Yeah, I was labeled retarded as a child because no one knew I was HOH! This happen a lot to HOH and deaf kids when I was growing up.
 
You should check online resources to make sure someone is prescribing the correct drug for your condition. Always check for what the drug is supposed to treat and any side affects.
 
yes i was and it caused untold misery i dont think i will ever get over.

Very true...my parents thought I was "developmentally delayed" for a while before I got tested. Then one day I was watching TV (loudly) and my mother went to hang out the wash on the line. She locked herself outside and was knocking on the door trying to get my attention but naturally I didn't hear her. That's when it hit her...even a mentally retarded child would have the common sense to answer the door.....:lol:

OH No! At least your mother was smart enough to realize you are hoh . I had to stay back in first grade and I still did not past , my teacher decided to give me a very basic hearing test and she was the one that realize I was hoh and not retarded. None of the parents on my street wanted me to play with their as they thought I was retarded.

My mother was an RN and never picked up on it other than to say I was "a quiet baby" and later a "quiet child." When you live with something abnormal for so long, it becomes normal. You know the saying, you're too close to the trees to see the forrest...same idea. My mother also had Rebulla when she was pregnant with me so it's understandable why they thought that initially. Like most children, it was my Kindergaten teacher that picked up on it and then I got tested. When they found out I was just deaf, they were relieved....deafness you can deal with...Down's Syndrome is a difficult journey.

The ironic thing is I share a condo building with a woman my age that has Downs and the poor thing was spared nothing: heart trouble, breathing trouble..etc. Believe me, I consider myself blessed that it was just hearing loss. Retarded children have such a hard time of it from adults and other children.
 
Yes I know some misdiagnose is label is cause on bipolar I shocked, psychiast told anxiety disorder, Misdiagnoised

whom doctor confused :( I speak to caregiver you are only that all anxiety disorder.but as well cause

remove no history bipolar disorder. That is why they didn't see on bipolar on history.

It is serious misdiagnosed i told my care giving eviction whom is doctor/psychiast

Why I am misdiagnoised my medication mess. I told doctor clear understood anxiety perfect anxiety Forbidden is strictly..

Caregiver to experiment to health professor on health Region on High Handle on roles. Sound look likes Roles professor Health... it is very good things everything no problem
