That's understandable that the vets are protesting against the government. What's not understandable is that they said they are peaceful or non-violent while they have physical contact with the cops. Peaceful protest = no physical contact with cops = non-violent. Video shows the evidence that some protestors are violent.

lol. from my friend's FB -

So Ted Cruz, a Cuban-Canadian non veteran, and Sarah Palin, a half-term former Alaska governor, also not a veteran, are staging rallies at the WWII memorial like they're the Alpha patriots. No wonder no one calls themselves Republicans anymore.

Yes, but some protesters claimed that police officers started it, but police officers said protesters started it, so blame on other, blame on other.

It isn't much difference when you compare those protesters to OWS.

The government and courts will believe any lie police come up with above the average citizen because that's how the system works for some reason. Also, police are legally allowed to lie, whereas we are not legally allowed to lie to them.

Hopefully, war memorials will be open ASAP to honor them even during the shutdown. Alot of OPM's rules for the shutdown need to be changed.

These shutdowns need to be investigated for impropriety as soon as the govt is "open for business." The Veterans Memorial is an open-air memorial and doesn't cost the govt at all during the shutdown.

It cost the government to maintenance the memorial, such as cleaning, grass cutting, high pressure water to clean the sidewalk, concrete, etc.

Also, the law required all national parks and memorials to closed if no one could reach the agreement with budget.

What about vandalism? Will you watch them voluntarily?

And completely funded via private funds.

There were more Park Rangers during the shutdown than before the shutdown. I'm sure veterans and other volunteers would happily watch the place.

Why is it so hard to believe that people wouldn't mind watching over a memorial and help keep it clean? It's all about paying their respect.

If I lived close to the memorial I would help keep it clean too. I dated a guy who was a POW and I brought a flag to honor him when my city had a field of flags . Seeing our veterans being treated this by our government is a disgrace to our country .

I think it's excellent some people FINALLY stood up and actually did SOMETHING! No words and talk then nothing.... Nope, they went out there, and they did something! Good stuff! It wasn't violent, and that's what deserves the respect. :)

Veterans return Obama's barricades to the White House | Human Events

How does the media deal with thousands of war veterans and their supporters storming the World War II memorial in defiance of Barack Obama’s orders, tearing down his barricades, and leaving them in a neat pile at the White House gate? You probably already know the answer, but if you need a hint, try hitting your favorite mainstream media “news” site and looking for headline coverage. ABC News, for example, thinks movie star Orlando Bloom listing his house for $4.5 million is a front-page featured-item event, but not the Million Veterans March. Needless to say, if a liberal group 10 percent this large held a comparably spirited demonstration against a Republican Administration, they would have been outnumbered by the journalists rushing to give them saturation coverage.

“In a mean-spirited fit of selfish anger, Barack Obama has shut down our nation’s war memorials,” march organizers said in a press release. “And he has declared open war on our honored veterans. The World War II memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, Obama has shut them all down to force his will on the House of Representatives and, frankly, to get revenge on the American people who oppose ObamaCare and his other naked power grabs.”

Gadsden Flag planted at the White House too.
