Deaf Awareness Week events set - themorningsun.com
Several events are planned in observance of Deaf Awareness Week on the campus of Central Michigan University.
On Monday, an Information Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Health Professions Atrium. "The Legend of the Mountain Man," an ASL Film, will be presented from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Health Professions Building 1308.
Tuesday's events begin with a American Sign Language Demonstration Class, with Dr. Susan Naeve-Velguth, scheduled from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in the Health Professions Atrium. Kevin Cramer will present Deaf World, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Rotunda at University Center.
A Silent Lunch with Kendra Miller is planned for noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday on the lawn between the Health Professions Building and Finch Building. In case of rain, the event will be relocated to the Health Professions Atrium.
Guests are asked to bring their own lunch.
The American Sign Language Society will present Deaf Games from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Indoor Athletic Complex, Track Bay.
Events planned for Thursday close out the week. Jill Gaus will present "Being Deaf Blind in a Deaf Culture" from noon to 1 p.m. in the Health Professions Building 1308. Guests are asked to bring their own lunch.
The final event, ASL Rocks! will be held 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bovee Auditorium at University Center.
