Because it is a negative feel that hearing is superior to deaf. There's nothing wrong with being hearing but there is nothing wrong with being deaf either. It's the way she worded it.
 
Well, who cares if they are superior to you? Everyone's superior in some ways!
 
No, I am not superior to anyone. I'm an oral only deaf since birth with CI so your comment "superior to you" does not apply to me (meaning: I have a CI, I can speak, etc. just like her daughter). And her comment offends me. I love ASL deaf, and I love HOH/CI deaf as well.. I hate when people make other people feel bad about who they are.

Because the fact of the matter is, simply being of hearing status does not confer superiority on anyone.

Maybe it's me but frankly, I don't give a damn what others think. I have my weaknesses and strengths... I don't care if they're superior to me in some aspects. Good for them.
