(Got this from my local news....I'm sure other states should have something like this also....I filed a claim!....)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Millions of dollars that are left unclaimed at local banks, insurance companies, utilities and other companies is turned over to the state of Florida, and some of that money could have your name on it.

In addition to money and securities, unclaimed property includes valuables such as watches, jewelry, coins, stamps, historical items and other things from abandoned safe deposit boxes.

According to the Florida Department of Financial Services, there is more than $48 million in unclaimed cash in Duval County; nearly $7 million in St. Johns County and just over $6 million in Clay County.

During the last fiscal year, the state was successful in reuniting $188 million to more than 300,000 people. Of that, $5.67 million was claimed by people in Duval County.

Channel 4 will host a phone bank on Tuesday with the Florida Department of Financial Services on hand to help people find out if they are on the state's list for cash or other valuables. Watch the local station from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for updates.

If you can't watch the phone bank, look up the information for yourself by visiting FLtreasurehunt.org.

Texas has a website too. I found $4000 last year.

I had $2800 from homeowners insurance after I sold a house and somehow didn't give them a forwarding address. $300 for something similar. Money from Bally's in Vegas from 92??? Money left in an account at TCU. And a couple of other small things.....

Wow! What search words are you using to find this? I would love to see if MN has anything.

Yes. I think that any State you have lived in should be checked out....I've yet to check out N.C., but I'm going to.

Yea, pretty much.

I can check for my girlfriend, too. She might probably have unclaimed property, who knows. She has a BIG family!
