I am having a small issue. Well it may be a bigger issue in some eyes than what I am thinking but I am not sure..

A friend of mine turned me onto the Master Cleanse since I have been working out a lot lately to get this last bit of "chunk" off my body. Here is where you can read a little about it: Master Cleanse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I had done a lot of research prior to starting it and figuring out the best methods and what not.

I started to do it for the first time nearly a month ago and I did it for a full 14 days. In 14 days I lost 16lbs of extra and unhealthy body fat. After those results I went off the cleanse and have recently started again as of last Wednesday and plan to be on the Cleanse for 30 days this time around with 2 weeks off after this time and then back on. My mom seems to think this is unhealthy but I disagree with her.
Shes worried because it doesn't consist of eating and thinking it may turn into an eating disorder.

I guess I am wondering if anyone else has tried the Master cleanse and if you have are you experiencing problems? It has become kind of an addiction for me because of the the results I am getting.

The cleansing products are typically a scam because there is nothing really to cleanse. The reason, is stuff doesn't build up in your colon .. if it did we would not be able to poop. Stop taking this product and try drinking more water.

Its not a product... And it most certainly isn't a scam as I have lost weight. The master cleanse its Organic Lemon juice mixed with Water, Maple syrup and Cyeanne Pepper. And trust me it does the cleansing job!

It is hard to answer this question because I see very little chemistry experts here on AD. To explain something like this, how it works, will require the knowledge of inorganic chemistry, the properties of acids and them in your body.. how that all works. You know, the stuff you didn't want to pay attention to about HCA + H2O = synthesis of what, which are lost and which are created, plus how the body processes that for energy.

I am not close to that upper level of health education yet, but I have gone through basic information that there are studies which indicate citric acids (anything Citric - lemon/oranges is acid based) lead to weight loss. You will typically find this statement on some weight loss solution or formulas..

I think the common name for the substance was hydroxycitric acid. I can point you to wikipedia for that:

Check and see if that is on the bottle? Or it might be written in another form.

Maybe in a few years, I can answer your question a little better ;)

Oh! One last few things if I can drop them in.
Metabolism evidently differs in different races and their cultures, mostly due to what they do and how they live their lives. Everyone's results will be different depending.

And I also have a personal opinion on fitness products and that stuff - I've started on Whey Protein not too long ago myself. It is best to take these all in moderation, never go overboard on anything. This is the key to any workout or magic product, or even eating simple foods.

Thanks for the info naisho but the thing I think you guys aren't understanding is this isn't a product or something that comes in a bottle or pill. This is a thing you mix yourself using, Water, Organic Lemon juice, Maple Syrup and Chyanne Pepper. All you do is drink this stuff throughout the duration of the Cleanse. Nothing else, no eating or anything, just this and water. I do okay on it and I like the results, I had just been wondering if anyone else has done it.

Thanks again for the info =)

Terri Schiavo. Potassium overload. Heart attack. Vegetative state.
That is what the diet you talk about can lead to.

Ask your doctor if you don't believe me.

You're right.

Different diets vary for different people.

If it works for you, great. Although it's not recommended for long-term use.

So, if you want to do it for a month... that's fine. Just don't make a habit out of it.

Even our bodies need variety in order to maintain a healthy metabolism.

Sticking with the same thing over and over can make your metabolism slow down. (This also varies.)

How much of each ingredient do you use and how long is the cleanse? How many glasses a day, etc.? Do you mix it by the gallon? No side effects, like hunger, thirst, etc.?...I'm tempted to try it! And if you'll give me all the info. on it, I'll try it for a few days, and see what the results are. I'm up to lose some weight for the summer! But I do not believe in diet pills, etc.! Won't waste my $$ on that.

*

#2 (60 oz. daily serving):

* 60 ounces of filtered water
* 12 Tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup
* 12 Tablespoons of organic lemon juice
* 1/2 Teaspoon cayenne pepper powder

There are a couple important things to remember when preparing the lemonade.

For one, the lemon juice used must be fresh squeezed. This cannot be emphasized enough. It is necessary to use fresh produce. Canned juice won't work and will erase most of the benefits of using the master cleanser diet.

Also, the maple syrup must be grade B maple syrup, not the sugar filled syrup that is used at the breakfast table.

The cayenne pepper might seem unnecessary, but it is actually very important. Not only does it help to add a bit of a kick, but the pepper helps to break up mucus and increases healthy blood flow. It also is a good source of B and C vitamins, commonly referred to as Super Vitamins due to their many benefits for the body.

It really is unsafe though.

Hmm..
Most interesting is that they wrote "Organic" Lemons and Maple Syrup. I have once said around here before that Organic means Carbon based, and it does not mean healthy, it is considered a marketing gimmick word (to scientists) meant to look like it's healthy, except the FDA does not back up this statement in any shape or form - the Department of Agriculture has never endorsed the term.

You will never know truly how much "Organic" content was in the fruit unless you grow it yourself in your backyard, or have a trusted farmer/friend.

Crops yielded for population catering are generally massively grown, fed with some sort of booster or use biotechnology to exponentially advance their growth and fuit bearing/product. They [the farms] could even go as far as to say they didn't use pesticides, but had additives in the soil making them slap on an "Organic" tag. These products/boosting methods done on the plants are also inside some of their fruits y'know. (Which was what all started up this organic fiasco in the first place).

Cliff notes: Organic fruit does not necessarily mean it is better than a non-organic fruit product, they could be even 1% organically cultivated and still have that organic label slapped on them.
So it is a matter of trust game here. But I question why the diet, had they known this simple belief, would go as far as to add that statement unless they were trying to be sincerely honest that you have to add lemons that come from non-additive/gene spliced backgrounds.

Just felt like sharing my :2c: over the organic statement in the solution. I'm typically a "get real" if you use science, or don't use it person.

Is this diet safe for your own kidney?

I used to drink tea to cleanse my body years ago and I paid for it now so be careful with master cleanse.

Ive wanted to try the master cleanser diet, but I think my mom would flip if she saw me doing it. I have lemon juice stashed in the truck, I can get grade B maple syrup from wally-world, and we have Cayenne pepper in stock here at the house, and I can get the water from the tap.

The key to this master cleanser is to use it periodically, but not habitually. Like for instance once every six months for 15 days only.

There's one diet that I've seen done before. It's the Hollywood Diet.

It's a concentrated juice drink that you buy at your local health/nutrition supply store like GNC.

You pour part of a bottle in a big glass and add water.

Stir it up and drink it.

You drink it once a day or something. (I forget exactly how many servings it makes.)

It supposedly cleans out your system and makes you poop out 5 to 7 feet long turds.

Because of that, people lose a lot of weight within 2 to 3 days.

Good for those trying to lose some weight before an upcoming banquet or something.

If master clense isn't a product then why do they sale it in a bottle?
Shapewear, Waist Cinchers, Beauty Secrets

If its not a product why do they also sale books on it? Books are a product last I checked.

Master Cleanse 365: The Daily Plan for Staying Detoxed, Healthy and Happy After You Complete the Master Cleanse

If you lost weight then its for other reasons most likely. Those lemons and stuff dont have a lot of calories to begin with. Logic would lead one to conclude that you replace higher calories with lower ones by doing all this cleansing. So its not the cleansing -- its the reduced caloric intake. That's the only way, without surgery, you can lose weight, burning off calories and/or reducing them. Disagree all you want but that's medical fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Toxins do not build up, without naturally being released, in the colon. If they did we would not be able to poop and we would die. So cleansing the colon is nonsense!!!!!!!! Complete Nonsense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excessive amounts of sugar, like those you'd get from eating excessive amounts of fruit, is not good for your body. You need a balanced diet not a diet based on one thing or reducing one thing.

The tea cleanse now, that's dangerous as it contains no nutrients .. except a few antioxidants, and its a diuretic. Basically all that tea is doing is dehydrating you.
