Jesus Heals Many

29 As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.

30 Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her.

31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.

32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.

33 The whole town gathered at the door,

34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

Does it mean that TODAY, people who have the diseases - many different kind of diseases that came from sins or demons? Like demon made a person to smoke and killed that person like lung disease? Is this scripture trying to say?

Anyone...who can help me to understand this scripture? Many thanks!
 
Yeah, we have to becareful how we look at scriptures about healings. Some false teachers will say if you are not heal, then you have weak faith or no faith, it is not so. In this scriptures is the start of His ministry to lead people for salvation. For example, remember Jesus healed the groups of lepers, and only one gave the Lord thanks. And also many saw the miracles of healing but a lot of them still doubt who Jesus really is and also even religious leaders said He's from Satan *belzebeeb*. There's so much about the healings. As of todays world we have medicines, dr, hospitals and etc. But the healing will be in God's timing. Remember, Paul had bad eyes, was he healed? No. God called each of us differently. Yes, God gave us boundaries for our protection. And at the same time never quick judgement on people. Jesus understands each of us. Mostly He wants is healing spiritually. Smoking, premarital sex, alcoholism, gossipping, and many others affect our mental, emotional, spiritual, physically. Jesus alone make us whole. Sometimes, when a person died thinking God didn't answer, oh yes He does. In Christ, tho died, a person healed, why? No more pain. The person is forever with the Lord.

Wow...it means that the devils caused people really sick like smoking (lung cancer). It makes sense to me. Someone who created the cigarettes and it was from the devils who pulled someone into to making the cigarettes and the devils knew that it will hurt so many people in the future. True enough, there are soooo many people who got so sick lately like lung cancer, brain cancer, esophagus cancer, throat cancer, heart attack, diabetes, breast cancer, etc that smoking caused!!!! Don't you see the lists of causes and it says quit smoking, more exercise, eat fruits & vegetables, etc. Well, I've seen many lists which include QUIT SMOKING!!!!

In fact, smoking killed my parents! Now, my aunt has lung cancer. First, my father died of brain cancer from SMOKING. Then, my mother died of lung cancer from SMOKING. Now, my aunt has lung cancer from SMOKING. I know other people who had or have cancers from SMOKING!

So, it seems very clear to me that the devils knew that smoking will kill so many people in the future. Yes, it happens now.

my mom have empshyema from smoking many years.. she is suffering greatly from this terrible disease.. being on oxygen and several medicines to stay alive.. its not funny to watch her suffer.. my grandma died from empshyema and heart congestive failure.. even tho my grandma quit smoking for many years.. 12 yrs.. but she still die from smoking related disease as she started when she was 11 and died when she was 84 yrs old.. :( not good to start smoking for pleasure.. bad idea.. need to quit anyway as being healthy and eat good foods etc and excerise.. will do a world good.. :)
 
I know what u mean. We are facing everyday battles. But we make choices everyday, devil didn't make us do it. Remember eve blame the devil, but eve held accountable. But remember, let the Lord be with you. Smile
 
Sickness issues from sin and is a sign of man's abnormal condition before God because of sin. The slave-savior, Jesus rescue sinners by healing their sick condition both physically and spiritually and restore them to normality that they might serve Him as Simeon mother-law did.

The demon possesion of man signifies Satan's usurpation of man, whom God created for His purpose. The slave-savior came to destroy the works of Satan (1John 3:8). So He cast out demons from possessed people that they might be delivered from Satan's bondage (Luke 13:16), out of Satan's authority of darkness (Acts 26:18;Col 1:13), into God's kingdom.

Doesn't matter what make you THINK AND JUDGE THEM TOO...

Whatever you can judge to your own christian peoples who still smoking!!!
Why you want judge non christian issues smoker and others too..

Doesn't make sense!

Silly! All peoples are sinner too... so am I sinner too.. Nobody perfect lives on the down earth.. unless you ask Jesus for forgiveness!

I'm not sure who you talking to, but to me as I see has nothing to do with "non christians. It is for both. Yes, many christians smoke also. I have a friend who is struggling to quit smoking. But she stop now, bec dr commanded her to, bec her lungs. She's a christian. Correct, we don't go out to grab there throat and it is a personal decisions. But that is either obey or not to obey. But true, Jesus knows our weaknesses, but must face battles. But the battle is the Lord's. Each of us do have bumps and bruises. But God works for those who seeking Him, not by apathy and get by with it. Each person has different responses. True, we need to edify one another, not cutting them down, but at the same time, not to be compromise to do things that doesn't honor God.
 
It is not God intention to make us abstain from doing bad or evil.His aim is for us to eat Him. Take Him as our life.Even man in the beginning who had no sin untill the devil tempted Him, needed the tree of life.
If you are a Christian dont worry about stopping smoking because it wont help! the more you desire to stop,the more chainned you will be to smoking! What you need is to get more of Christ into your being.If you do so spontaneously the desire for smoke will cease. Because you will be so fill with Christ the tree of life that you dont desire the deadly smoke.
Stop worrying about how you can overcome smoking and the other things.Eat more Jesus! Christ our victory and everything.For the non-believers: Jesus is the answer for the world today.
