If you are going to have a snake in my house then I will make sure the snake cage is really locked up and sealed at night because we do not need lost snakes roaming the house while we are sleeping, Of course This is an example. It will be in a steel enclosure with very tiny holes where the snake can't even fit its head through much less the snake's mouth at all, That way the snake can't break the window glass commonly seen when I visit a Deaf friend's home. I would say Nice to look at but I would not want to have one for myself. Maybe my kids might want one someday and they will have to be non-posionous snakes too.

OK heath this makes no sense it can't be a steel enclosure unless ur trying to kill the snake there is no way that uva light could get through steel and the steel would heat up to much and cause the snake to bake to death. snakes can't break glass cages i don't know who ever told you that. But it's literly impossible unless the cage is so tiny u break it putting the snake in. The only way a snake could ecscape is a careless act of not locking the top of the cage which wouldn't be the snakes fault but the humans. Please i'm begging u even if ur kids want a snake don't get one because from what i've been seeing the snake would live a misreable very short life followed by a horific death

The snake does not need light at night. The snake can sleep in there just like in the wild. The living room would of have been air conditioned. I have heard of snakes breaking glass cages and it has also been reported on the nightly 6 o ' clock t.v. news. People have made sure to lock their snakes and the snake escaped because the cage was not secure enough ( glass, metal bars etc. ) and Wildlife wardens and their assistants always use steel enclosures to bring a rattlesnake in or a boa constrictor in. The kids can have a small non-posionous snake and what makes you think that the snake would live a short life followed by a horrific death

Small snakes can't break thru glass, but big snakes like python, boas, ancondas can. Make sure you make it clear next time, Heath.

I never said anything like that. You are jumping to conclusions. I am just stating my opinion here and back it up with proof. I think you are trying to start something here and I will not have it. Have a good day.
Normally I don't side with Heath, but here he is right.

Snakes? yike! I have seen a few in my backyard, I don't think I want to see anymore..

:iough:

I like snakes, but I also have a RESPECT for them. I would never own one because, reptiles need special care.

As to the thread, I think MOST people know not to do something so stupid as to try to put snake bait on their stomach. It's just moronic. There's a proper way to feed and handle reptiles, which most people have a respect for, I think.

Sorry, Heath, but this was a little dumb. Most people would know not to do this.

The only way a snake coould break out of the glass is if the cage was to small and pushed up against the glass. If it's a non posionis snake it's not gonna kill u if it gets out i swear. Mine have gotten out cause they figured how to open their tops till i got a different lock. so yea Glass cages are safe as long as they are big enough. ok Air Condition not always good for snakes one of my snakes would die if it got below 50 in his cage so no that doesn't work. a cage needs heat but not to much and you can't do that with metal. Also Good luck trying to transport your snake when it's getting ready to shed. I'll laugh because i did it once and almost got the tip of my finger bitten off. and what makes me think the snake would live a short life followed by a horrific death is i can tell you know nothing about snakes and don't even have a great desire for them Also the way you speak of going to take care of them would kill them very quickly but what am i saying since i wouldn't know anything about snakes since i've had them since i was born and my whole family has had them before me.

Nah, If you get snake bites then go to ER at hospital and give treatment such as anti-venom vaccantion.

Make sure to tie up your body that where bite is applied then it will stop moving around veins into heart. If you can't anything to help then call 911.

That is why I am not going to gamble with my life or that of my wife and my children and if the kids want a snake then it has to be non-posionous for sure.

Alright.... I'll tell you what .... I am sticking with what I know and that is dogs. Ruff !!!!! :D

Seriously, if my kids wanted a snake and it is non-posionous then I will buy it from the pet store for them and ask the pet store for advice on how to care for and feed the snake but there is no way I am going to have my kids bring snakes in from the wild and ask me to keep a snake from in the wild. It is best to buy them from the pet store. :ugh2: :cold:
