"Republicans were for President Barack Obama's requirement that Americans get health insurance before they were against it.

The obligation in the new health care law is a Republican idea that's been around at least two decades. It was once trumpeted as an alternative to Bill and Hillary Clinton's failed health care overhaul in the 1990s. These days, Republicans call it government overreach."

The Associated Press: Obama health insurance requirement taken from GOP

overreach? They didn't see that when they brought up that up?

Really? Show me in black & white that it was the GOP that thought it up.

From memory, it was the Clinton Administration in the 1990s that tried to push for Health Care reform backed by the support from Hillary Clinton promoting the idea for her husband.

The idea got killed by the GOP whom had control by both the House and Senate at the time.

But the idea of it never died until now.

Healthcare reform has been debated since ... forever in America.

It's only now that it's taken seriously because people are complaining about the current state of healthcare (pre-Obamacare.)

It was already shown in black and white. Click on the link. :laugh2:

Old news....

I didn't like it then and I don't like it now.

By a AP news source no doubt, and history is always written by the victors.
