Man demands estranged wife pay for kidney

He wants $1.5 million for the organ he gave her when they were together

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28544805/

Is it legal to sell or buy human organ in America? I thought it's illegal

I cannot beleive that man is a doctor? The doctor is suppose to save someone's life? He ashamed himself for sue the mother of HIS 3 children, he donated his kidney to save her life. I thought he doing for his 3 children because 3 children needs mother but he doesn't... It shows itself that he only think himself, not his children... I feel sorry for the children what kind of father they have... :(

That's sad and sounds like it is bitter. Why would he want it back and it is risky procedure, and it would put his soon to be ex-wife at more higher risk? Talk about being selfish to think of himself *smh* :(

yes it's illegal to sell or buy human organs. He's only demanding for compensation.

why are you guys dissing on husband? read it carefully -

He claimed he has been prevented from seeing their children, ages, 8, 11 and 14, for months at a time.

He said he gave his kidney to Dawnell Batista, now 44, in June 2001. She filed for divorce in July 2005, although he claims she began having an extramarital affair 18 months to two years after receiving the kidney transplant, his attorney, Dominick Barbara said.

He did everything for her... nice house, nice life, good money.... and his kidney... and this is how she pays back to him? Sounds like that woman is an ungrateful b***h.....

Demanding for compensation? :eek3: It make no sense to me... If it's legal to compensate someone for body parts in America, then women can also compensate their partners/spouses for the rent and services per baby, they carried in their wombs for 9 long months, too... Fair? :dizzy:

The fact is that her husband volunteered to donate one of his kidneys to her which mean is a gift!!! A gift is a gift, period!

No, you should read the article carefully! Please re-read... Why do you assume that woman is an ungrateful b***h, that's because you beleive that man's CLAIMED over his wife cheated on him.. ? The fact is we don't know either she had an affair or not that's because we have his side of the story and he CLAIMED that his wife cheated on him?

The article doesn't say anything that his wife said that she stop her husband from see their children. His side of the story sounds assumption and accusation to me... I prefer to have both side instead of one side. I'm waiting for his wife's side before I can say something.

So Sad!! Saw Tv new!!! B*^tch!! Felt bad for ex husband :(

Hmm. Looks like women are more willing to hear both sides of the story, while the guys automatically condemn the ex-wife as a bitch.

what about Jiro?

You said that women prefer to hear both sides of the story. I remind you that it's not just women but men as well... Phillips is a woman and is for one sided story and Calvin is a guy and disagree what and how husband did for money. Jiro? Are you saying that Jiro is also take both sides of the story, too? Jiro is a guy.

Pretty typical.

At least he isn't asking for her to return the kidney in the divorce settlement.:giggle:

But all joking aside, get some counseling people. This is ridiculous.

The reason why I think the wife is a b***h because this man basically gave the wife his kidney!! and then they got divorced so soon? and he's demanding $1.5 million compensation? sounds like wife did something hurtful to him...

Even if she did do something hurtful, is his action justifiable?

This whole thing is all about him being pissed and wanting to get back at her.

I agree what the wife did was wrong. But like some of the other posters said it was a donation. Can not get compensated for a donation.

The husband is obviously devastated and holds a huge grudge.

Agreed. Get some counseling, dude, and deal with your issues. The court system is not the place to do that.

well the article said he's fed up. He was denied of access to his children several times... and I suppose the wife pushed him to the edge.

"This is my last resort; I did not want to do this publicly," Batista said.
