Makes me wonder if he put it up there, when he was a small child and he just doesn't remember.

Sometimes, you can get hit by a nail so quickly that you didn't know the nail was there.

There have been stories where people fell and landed on a nail with their head or got shot by a nail with a nail gun. Either way, it happened so fast that it felt like a slap on the face or head... that they shrug it off. If the nail misses vital parts of your brain or blood vessels in your head, then you can survive. As time goes by, the body will slowly shift the nail elsewhere.
