SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Bond was set Wednesday at $1 million for a suspect in the death of a man whose body was found on the grounds of the South Dakota School for the Deaf.

James Albert Cottier, 35, faces alternate charges of murder and manslaughter in the death of Cameron Ronald Red Star, 35. Red Star's body was discovered by a maintenance worker shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Both men are transients and were seen together Monday evening, police said. Cottier may have come to Sioux Falls from Rapid City in the past week, and Red Star may have recently become a transient, according to Loren McManus, police public-information officer.

Neither the discovery of Red Star's body nor the investigation affected activities at the school, according to superintendent Maureen Schloss.

"All schedules were adhered to," she said. "There were absolutely no disruptions."
