Congruent IP Communications, a leading provider
of IP multimedia communications, and The Canadian Hearing Society, Canada's
leading provider of services that enhance the independence of deaf, deafened
and hard of hearing people, today celebrated International Deaf Awareness Week and the development of MiPhone, a new IP-based solution for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing Canadians.
"International Deaf Awareness Week is a perfect opportunity for us to
preview MiPhone," said James Baskin, President & CEO of Congruent.

"Congruent is making significant technological advances on behalf of the millions of deaf, deafened and hard of hearing individuals across the country."
With the support of The Canadian Hearing Society, Congruent is developing
MiPhone as a new home phone service that will facilitate easier communications between deaf and hearing people.

"MiPhone does not require adaptability from the user and will work well
for all consumers whether they are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or
hearing," said Kelly Duffin, President & CEO of The Canadian Hearing Society.
"It is an important step forward as we move towards a province of equal access for everyone as legislated by the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act)."

"MiPhone, scheduled for release later this year, is a solution that will
finally give Canadians with hearing loss full access to the benefits of
communication technology." adds Baskin.
