Hey there, folks! My husband has been Military for the past 5 years and we are going to be making the switch to civilian life in 2015 so I am really curious about Social Security and Disability. Granted, you never know exactly how any one situation will play out for example: Hubby and I could end up bringing in too much income to even apply for aid etc. But I was more curious as to the question: Are deaf children with cochlear implants even eligible for disability? I have seen where the deaf community itself has had it's ups and downs with SSDI and eligibility, so I'm not sure where our children would even fall into that whole thing. We have a couple years to ready ourselves for this shift in the way we provide medical for our children, but I would be so appreciative if someone in a similar situation could attempt to give me some answers? Both of our children are bilateral recipients of cochlears so they would just be needing some speech therapy and biannual mappings possibly. Any experiences you would like to share would be great! thanks!
