Look down at Deaf people

That's such a good point! I dont call myself as HA/ASL user. Why have a CI/ASL user? Afraid to identify themselves as Deaf or what? Good point.

At first, I thought the link was a mistake because the title said "Breast Implant and ASL User". I watched it anyway and found the link is the correct one.

Now I see it is a parallel to CI. BI is even one letter different from CI.

She had an excellent point, I couldn't agree with her more. ;)

Her analogy of the audist mentality and mindset is terrific. Even though Adian is "preaching to the choir," it's vital for the "choir," mostly ASL deafies, that we keep talking up our culture and self-easteem to each other.

Every bit of territory you concede to a group which oppresses you "for your own good" uses that concession to oppress you even more.

How true! How true!

Looking at the title of this thread, I look down on most people cuz I am six foot one....lol...looking at the clock, I see its real late, too which excuses my goofiness. See y'all later and GN, lol.....

I don't know if this goes for any other CI user but since I have CI I figure I might give it a shot.
I think reason they does this "CI/asl user" is because they might want to prove to let you know they still use ASL and they don't fall in typical stereotype of CI being mainstreamed/oralist/not using sign/to show they're still in deaf culture, etc I don't know. Also other thing is some deaf people don't considered CI user to be deaf so we might use that :dunno:
I still call myself deaf and I only said I have CI but I use asl" few time so far to some other blogger post against CI people.

I don't see how stereotyping helps a deaf person. I vtew it as once deaf, still are deaf since there will be periods of time those with HA/CI will be without their devices, and will need to use ASL as another form of communication.
