Have you tried Linksys router with custom firmware, such as DD WRT and Tomato?

For me, yup, I did because Linksys stock firmware crashed after using P2P and log in the PPPoE, even new router won't fix the PPPoE issue so I decided to flash with DD WRT and it work like rocks.

No more overheating issue, thanks to god.
 
I used dd-wrt before. Much more stable firmware- in old days when cisco first bought linksys, It was the best workaround problem for the crappy written firmware for setting up sorenson VP's.

I have no used tomato on linksys - I'll have to look into for review. I basically did away with linksys and went with dlink and belkins for now.
