My name is Jennifer and I am an industrial design student from Carleton University. I joined this forum because I would really like to gather information about some of the challenges and issues deaf people face on a daily basis for my next design project. I have to design some sort of portable light and I was hoping to focus on the deaf community and their needs for this product. I would really value everyones input, even if you answer just a few of my questions. Some of the questions I would like to know (but not limited to) are ..
Are you deaf? Or do you know someone who is deaf?
What are some of the challenges do you face in your daily lives?
How or did these issues change from child to adulthood?
When you are indoors/outdoors do you carry anything with you?
What kind of products do you own to assist you?
Do you own any lighting products to assist you?
Do you have any problems with these existing products?
If there is anything else you would like to write about feel free! Please do not feel restricted by these questions.
