CENTRALIA, Wash. (Nov. 30) - Esther Medley of Centralia is legally blind, but when she bowls she can glimpse a bit of the floor to line up with the lane.

Medley, 94, can't see straight ahead, so her 86-year-old husband Ralph tells her which pins are left after her first ball.

That's how Medley recently bowled a score of 244, which included eight strikes, at Fairway Lanes in Centralia. It was the second-highest score of the year for her league.

The Medleys have been bowling in the senior league since 1979.
 
Ah, It's really cool to know that the unachieved situation could be turned into something amazing and just when you think it could be impossible turns out to be even better.

Wow, what an accomplisment! :) I know totally blind bowlers in our local blind bowling league who also have pretty high scores, but nowhere near *this* high. By the way, I'm totally deafblind and LOVE to bowl. Unfortunately, I'm not as good as the elderly woman in this story. LOL!
 
I suck at bowling, tho it's fun! Wow, she did better than I do. ;)

I love bowling - I won the worst bowler prize at a fund rasier last semester but it's still fun to throw a big heavy ball at a bunch of pinns. this lady tho is way cool.
