Leesville resident reappointed to Louisiana Commission for the Deaf | thetowntalk.com | The Town Talk
Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of a Leesville resident to the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.
Thelma Covello, of Leesville, is serving on the Lafayette Athletic Association of the Deaf and the Louisiana Registry for Interpreters for the Deaf.
The Louisiana Commission for the Deaf serves to develop and implement statewide programs and to provide services for deaf people. The commission also informs citizens, and parents and families of the deaf about available programs and services for deaf persons.
According to statute, the commission is composed of gubernatorial appointments, two of which must be parents of deaf persons. Thelma Covello was reappointed to the board.
