so im sitting here looking watching the news about Hurricane Katrina with my best friend Pancho. and we've decided....we're going to surf her. she's a pretty big hurricane...really big infact they just said category 4....lol damn thats pretty big. she's going to hit the very end of the pan handle of florida on monday. she was supposed to hit tuesday. so we're not too sure when we're leaving honestly. it depends on what Katrina is going to do. we'll be sure on sunday when we'll leave. i still dont know how big the waves are expected to be....but im sure pretty damn big.

the last time when Hurricane Dennis hit, we went up to the pan handle...lol that was pretty crazy. we were lucky enough to get a hotel room. the only problem was, was that there was only one bed. so we had to share. but it was INSANE.

so anyway. ill be leaving around the 29th or 30th depending on what Katrina does. and...... hopefully...... ill be back after surfing her. lol my 23rd bday just might be my last. lol :thumb:

If you want real surf, go to Hawaii. Riding in a hurricane is a bad idea. :P

Class of 1995 at my school (California School for the Deaf) He got killed in a hurricane from Florida 2 years ago.

Good luck to you, though.

i got to do it. got to. ive surfed so many hurricanes i basically know what im doing.

we're going to pensacola. it will take us about 5 hours to get there. they are showing on the news that they are putting red flags up on the public beaches. Red Flags mean...no one's allowed in the water. so pancho and i either have to find a smaller beach that no one really goes to...or we got to break the law and hope we dont get caught. im nervous as hell to tell u the truth. but im ready.

Please be careful, AJ. If Hurricane katrina is so bad, you are always welcome to go as far as Oklahoma and stay at my house for a few days. (hint hint) Sorry....I had to try. smile I'm aware that you had ridden many hurricanes, but it is still very dangerous. Pls get back online as soon as you get back home. Hugs!
 
oh of course its still dangerous. trust me im terrified, cuz i dont know what katrina's going to do. she's alive, she's like a wild animal, u dont know what its going to do. so we'll just see.
 
Ahh AJ take some pictures will ya?? but be careful though! You gotta be crazy though.. its like going for a wild ride in a tornado!!! heheheeh, jk.. make sure you take some pictures!

i dont have a scanner or a digital camera....or even a camera for that matter. and anyway....there is a category 4 hurricane comin at us with winds that will rip a house off the ground. how am i gonna be able to take pictures and worry about my life at the same time?

i will however tell all the details.

I have to ask you, AJ, why do you want to do this? It doesn't seem to be worth risking your life over 30 second thrill. No offense, but, I really think you're nuts! :lol:

i guess u have to be a surfer to understand. riding a huge wave like that....it makes u feel like ur on top of the world. ur taking on such a HUGE force of nature. like riding a missle. and u can feel the power of the wave underneath ur feet, its such an adrenaline rush. u cant get enough. u just want more and more. its addicting. my first hurricane i ever surfed i was 10 it was hurricane andrew. he was really far south but we still got some amazing waves. god my aunt patty was so mad at me for that. i didn't tell anyone i was going. i sneaked out of my grandpas house, he lives about 15 minutes from the beach. i rode my bike so it took me like a half an hour to get there. i sat and watched it in awe. some grown men were trying to surf it but kept wiping out. then i went in. i rode one wave...then i went to ride another one but seriously wiped out on it. got scared so i paddeled back in and sat on the beach for awhile. then my aunt patty saw me....man i wasn't allowed to surf for a month after that. i cant remember all the hurricanes ive surfed. i know i surfed Floyd, Isabelle, Francine, Charlie, Dennis i know i surfed more than that i just cant remember them all.

Get a cheap camera with 35mm, shoot the waves and ship to Alex the Mod or whoever will scan it for AD...
 
hey awesome ! go for it ! it should be a blast ! i can relate cuz we r on the edges. i have climbed and fallen over 20ft.

just be cautious and smart to surf ok !

always man. ive been surfing for.....18 years. ive been in the water for longer. my friend pancho has been surfing for around 16 years. now i know something could happen. but i am familiar with the water. i should be alright. but if i die....what a way to go!
