Learning Center for Deaf raises $3.6M - Boston Business Journal
The Learning Center for the Deaf has raised $3.6 million in debt to help finance the construction of a 20,000-square-foot early-childhood center and library for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
Founded in 1970, the day and residential school said the bonds were issued by MassDevelopment, a quasi-public finance and economic development agency based in Boston. Danversbank (Nasdaq: DNBK) purchased the bonds.
The Learning Center for the Deaf said the planned early-childhood center will consist of a new building separate from the school’s 17 existing facilities in Framingham and will house a new library, the CVS/Caremark Library. The school’s primary campus sits on 12 acres, not including a smaller satellite school in Randolph, Mass.
The school as 210 students in elementary-through-high school grades. Roughly 90 percent of the student population hails from Massachusetts.
