La. men claim buffet eatery banned them - Yahoo! News

A 265-pound man says a restaurant overcharged him for his trips to the buffet, then banned him and a relative because of how much they consumed during their visits.

Ricky Labit, a 6-foot-3 disabled offshore worker, said he had been a regular at the Manchuria Restaurant, eating there as often as three times a week. But on his most recent visit, he said a waitress gave him and his wife's cousin, Michael Borrelli, a bill for $46.40, roughly double the buffet price for two adults.

"She says, 'Y'all fat, and y'all eat too much,'" Labit said.

Labit and Borrelli said they felt discriminated against because of their size.

"I was stunned, that somebody would say something like that. I ain't that fat, I only weigh 277," Borrelli said.

Accountant Thomas Campo, who spoke for the restaurant because the owner's English is limited, said the men were charged an extra $10 each on Dec. 21 because they made a habit of dining exclusively on the more expensive seafood dishes, including crab legs and frog legs.

"We have a lot of big people there," Campo said. "We don't discriminate."

The argument over the bill grew heated, and police were called. The police report states that the disagreement was settled when the restaurant said the bill was a mistake and, to appease Labit, the meal was complimentary.

Labit said he insisted on paying but was told not to come back. He complained that when seafood on the buffet line runs out, the restaurant only grudgingly cooks more. Campo said the proprietress tries to reduce waste of quality food.

Some of the pro football players weight more than 300 lbs and are in great shape. It may mean he has alot of muscles and muscles weight alot more than fat. Can't always go by weight alone, gotta factor in all the facts. So with that in mind, he may be almost 300 lbs and not be fat.

Foods at buffet restaurant isn't healthy except salad bar. Consuming foods there so often easily gains weight. Once a while I go eat buffet but not many time per week. Buffet foods isn't great like other nice restaurant offers.

Very true...

It's not just muscles but heavy bones as well.

Some people are slim and have good muscles or heavy bones. Example, my son is tall and slim and have good muscles and heavy bones. He eats a lot... He can eat 2 dinners... It depends his height...

As the article written about his height 6 foot & 3 inches and says that he is not fat which mean that he know he is not fat due his height... or could be heavy bones or muscles.

maybe these men did on purpose to get themselves kill and sue this buffet.

:laugh2:~how so ironic subject Le men claim buffet eatery banned the huge person!

Quite huge discriminate how's the huge person looks!

The guy said he's 277 at 6'3" and, after searching other articles, I'll go with his wife's cousin's age (44).

Calculate your BMI - Standard BMI Calculator
277 pounds, 6'3", and 44 year-old male. This has a Body Mass Index of 34.6. (Normal weight is BMI of 18.5 - 24.9.) 34.6 is not even in the overweight category (25-29.9) it is in the Obesity category (30 or greater).

Anyone who frequents a buffet restaurant three times a week isn't full of muscle or "heavy bones"!

Well, they can have my share as I cannot stand buffet type places except for a few really nice ones in Vegas.
