hi guys! i am not deaf nor hard of hearing. but i just want to know more about the deaf community and their culture. i am also taking an ASl class in Mount San Jacinto College and we have this project where i have to do a powerpoint presentation about Dr. Clayton Valli. I m so nervous because i am going to present it tomorrow in class. i hope i will be able to introduce Dr. Valli in our class.we also have this school project where i have to interview or ask some questions to a Deaf or hard-of-hearing person.
can someone help me with this.please....
kindly answer the question, especially if you are: [please tell me if you are one fo the following person i need the most for this question]
a) Deaf person raised and went to a deaf school,
b) Deaf or hard of hearing and do not know signing
c) Deaf or hard of hearing that started from a public school and then transfer to a Deaf school or vice versa.
here are the questions:
1. What was the reaction of your family when they learned that you were deaf? Was a cochear implant ever an option?
2. what do you like to change in the teaching style for the Deaf students in order to improve the quality and learning experience of the future Deaf students?
3. Did you do good in your academics and extra curricular activities? During your extra curricular activities, how was your realtionship and communication with your friedns and other peers?
4. How does it feel to be a part of the hearing commmunity? Did you ever felt rejected or tried to fit in?
5. What are the common misconception about the Deaf community? What would you want the hearng people understand about the Deaf community and culture?
hope you guys can find time to answer these questions and help me.thanks!i can't wait to meet new friends in this forum.
hugs and kisses to my new friends
