I've purchased the knock sensor before it got discontinued:

(I'm the only one left before it got sold out.)

OK now, since I assumed that my door has paint, if I am correct, a double-sided foam tape would damage paint, so I am wondering if there is any alternative to foam tape.

Does anybody have any sensors that hook up to a door? If so, what do you use for your apartment (if you rented one or owned a condo)?

The reason why I purchased the knock sensor is I wanted to be notified of guests knocking a door, and that I wanted to be able to have lights be controlled by the sensor when the door's been knocked.

There are 3M double-sided tape that doesn't damage the door. It has a special tab that you can pull that allows the object to be taken off without any damage.

If you're still worried about damage, who cares... you can simply paint over it later. ;)

If all else fails, you could get something to hang it instead. :)

Thanks.

Do you think apartment owners are going to inspect the paint for damage and say "Hey Grayson, it seems you've damaged the paint in the door." and be billed (like say) $100 for fixing the door with new paint?

I had a wireless X10 stick-in wall switch and after a few days of sticking the wall switch to the wall, I'd decided to remove it by peeling it off, but then I damaged the wall since it peeled the paint off and got stuck to the sticky tape behind the wireless wall switch.
