Kingstree student graduates from School for Deaf | SCNow
S.C. School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB) student-athlete Dedrick Simpson of Kingstree graduated May 25 as the SCSDB School for the Deaf’s male athlete of the year, the 2010 School for the Deaf outstanding senior and recipient of the Thomas Hampton Snipes Scholarship.
Simpson’s SCSDB accomplishments include:
2009 National Deaf Interscholastic Athletics Association All-American
2009 Herald Journal Prep football player of the week
United States of America Deaf Basketball High School All-Star team
2010 Mason Dixon All-Tournament Team and free-throw contest winner
Deaf Digest All-American in football
2010 All Region basketball
Simpson also set the SCSDB school record for rushing yards in a high school football career by topping 4,000 yards.
He plans on attending Gallaudet University in the fall and hopes to continue his athletics career playing for Gallaudet’s basketball team.
