If I had a quarter for every time I tell my kids to keep their hands in the window. I would be rich! This poor girl had her head out of the window!


Police: Woman in pickup strikes head on mailbox, dies

PINELLAS PARK - A woman has died after what appears to be a freak accident early this morning, Pinellas Park police say.

Angela Gaskin, 20, of Ocala, stuck her head out of the passenger-side window of a pickup just after 1 a.m. and hit a mailbox in the 4600 block of Lake Boulevard, Lt. Paul Andrews said.

The driver of the truck, 24-year-old Karl Norman Jeckel of Clearwater, was on his way home in the Lakes subdivision. He rushed Gaskin, with whom he had recently started living, to Northside Hospital. Gaskin had suffered traumatic head injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Andrews said.

The investigation is continuing, but so far the evidence supports Jeckel's story, Andrews said.

Tragic! Another accident, that could have been prevented.
 
OHHHHH! That has to really really suck!
 
I wonder if they were doing the popular sport of knocking mailboxes off when it happened?

That was featured on CSI one time with that result.

I wondered about that also.. But wouldn't that involve a baseball bat.
 
really tragic....maybe she was trying to check the mail and he was going too fast to stop in time at the mailbox?
