I just got an email from the RN at the doctor's office notifying me that my surgery date is 2/7/07 and my pre-op is 2/6/07 at 10 am. I had been waiting for this anxiously and all of a sudden I am kind of nervous.

What specifically should I expect at the pre-op?

She also asked which brand and color I want as it needs to be ordered ASAP. I plan on getting Advanced Bionics with the two tone color of blank and green.

Anyone know if there is a list of personal things to do before surgery to make day to day living after surgery more enjoyable and convenient?

I hope this link works. It gives a very list of things to do to prepare for the surgery.

Also, the pre-op visit is mostly to just see if you are healthy overall. You know, not getting sick and stuff. They also ask you a bunch of questions about medical history. Overall, it is just to save time on surgery day.

BTW, Congrats and good luck. You have coem to the right place for questions and support.

Hondu,

Congratulations on your surgery date! :)

At your pre-op appointment a nurse will take your medical history, blood work, weight, etc. to ensure that you are healthy enough to undergo surgery. Others here may have addditional comments as to what their experiences were during pre-op. From what I remember about my own (both times), I was asked questions about previous surgeries, illness, current medical conditions and any prescription medications I was taking. The nurse also explained what would happen the day I arrived to surgery (i.e. anethesia, recovery, etc.)

Here's wishing you all the best on your CI journey! :)

P.S. Moderators, perhaps we could make the thread Lillys dad posted above a sticky?

Lillys Dad:

Thanks and the link does work. Now I can get started with preparations. At least, I will be able to watch the Super Bowl without after surgery pain.:fingersx:

You'll be just fine! I felt it was only 3 minutes in the surgery! LOL!

My turn on date is the next day! (Feb 8th)

I am sure you'll do just fine with surgery etc...so good luck!!!! :thumb:

Others already explained about Pre-Op.

I will add you to the calender thread Hondu if you don't mind. At first when I read your date I thought it was in July and though poor you having to wait so long! Here in Australia and most of the world outside USA I believe we order the date as day/month/year e.g. 7th February would read 7/2/07. So I'll have to remember that when doing the calender :)

Had to smile at that explanation of dates (Australian version vs. American version), R2! (Moderators, can you make the thread with CI implantation, turnons, etc. a sticky too?) "CI surgery & switch on calender thread!"

Hear Again, P.S. Moderators, perhaps we could make the thread Lillys dad posted above a sticky? I SECOND that!

And Honda, :welcome: So happy for you!
