As a deaf or hard-of-hearing person, have you ever served on jury duty?

I have been served Summons twice (once where I used to live in another county, and recently in this county)....I have asked to be excused for both times not to be at jury duty because of my severe to profound hearing loss, which they have accepted my excuse.

On these Summons, you can ask to be excused because of a "physical condition", or any other legitimate reasons that is listed on the papers for you to check mark off and return it to the people responsible for jury duty. If they don't accept your excuse, you will get a notice in the mail and the reason why it isn't an excuse. I never got a notice, and the lady told me at the courthouse that I am excused from jury duty when I mentioned my hearing loss (I even provided my old audiograms as proof, since the paper said to provide proof).

Is it because they didn't want to pay for an interpreter, or any other reasons? Just wondering. :)
