On July 1st of every year, Canadians in cities across the country celebrate Canada Day. It's a day to spend time with family & friends, reflecting on what makes our country great, hosting special Canada Day events in our communities, and marking the day with outdoor barbeques and a spectacle of fireworks.

A Bit of History...When the United States separated from British rule in 1768, they created Independence Day which is celebrated each year on the 4th of July. 100 years later, almost to the day, Canada followed suit and created what was originally coined the "Dominion of Canada", but unlike the US who celebrates the rejection of British rule, Canada’s celebration is founded on the formation of a new country and the union of our provinces.
Dominion Day, or Canada Day as we know it to be called today, was made a statutory holiday in 1870, but only since the late 1950s have Canadians participated in regular observance ceremonies of this patriotic day.

That's cool, soooo......

Happy 'Canada Day' to you and other members from Canada! Have a great and wonderful day!! :)

CANADA DAY! YEP, BARBECUE, FAMILY GET TOGETHER, HEADING TO THE FARMER MARKET TOMORROW TO PICK UP RIB AND STEAK. FIREWORKS BY MY SON AT HIS PLACE. :grouphug:

Not sure what I'm gonna do. Might go down to the beach and swim a bit, or see if there are any good venues. There's usually an open-air concert down at the waterfront.

I get to go to a wedding with my boyfriend. It should be fun. My bf and I have been dating for over 4 years so I told him to be ready for people to ask us "when are you two getting married?"

It is my cousins wedding and him and his girlfriend started dating 2 months after mark and I started dating.

I just hope that there are fireworks, because it isnt canada without fireworks
