Every teams in NFL have a salary cap. I believe it'll be $126 million for this coming season. A lot of people thinks that Ravens QB is overpaid. Maybe he is. Maybe he is not. However, everyone has same amount of money under salary cap. It's about fitting 53 (?) Players under the salary cap. Maybe one team want to spend $23 million on quarterback position. Other team chose to spend $10 million on quarterbacks. Nothing wrong. Just have to figure how to land a roster under salary cap. If it means paying $20 million to one guy, I guess that is what they've to do. I'm no fan of Joe Flacco. Just giving my perspective.

What you are worth as a professional athlete I believe is based on two things, performance and getting people interested in the sports. A controversial athlete, while not as talented, will be kept because he expands the sport(think outrageous person). A talented athlete like David Beckham will also draw people to the sport.

Sports are more about entertainment today than actual competition, sadly.

True. There is no salary cap for Beckham. He can make as much as he wants. Hockey, football, and basketball players all have to fit within framework of team's salary cap. So Flacco takes $20 million of $126 million in cap. I hope Ravens can build a team. Yeah, $20 million is a lot. It may hamper the Ravens. Just like everyone else, have to figure the salary cap. Flacco has done a lot. Journey is out there to see if Ravens can field a decent team.
