Action movie badass Jean-Claude Van Damme recently received some deaf news. Literally. Sources from WENN say that Van Damme’s doctor told the actor that he needs to have protective wear in his ears at all times while on set, because he has been diagnosed with high frequency hearing loss. Maybe too many explosions, ass kicking, and gun shots caused this? Probably so.
In a U.K. TV documentary entitled Jean Claude Van Damme: Behind Closed Doors, which aired May 10th, JCVD tells the documentarians “I shot lots of guns in movies but I'm able to hear unusual sounds, like if you slide fax paper in the living room I can hear it, like a German Shepherd.” At least he is dealing with the whole thing. Some might cry for sympathy, but Jean-Claude Van Damme is a French warrior.
